Asus unveiled the ZenScreen MB16AC portable monitor during its IFA 2016 press conference. A portable monitor that offers HD resolutions for desktop, laptop or tablet owners who need a second screen.
It is basically a thin and light 15.6-inch Full HD screen which you can plug to your laptop’s USB port. It weighs less than two pounds and is only 8mm thin. Asus claims it is the ‘world’s lightest and slimmest full HD portable monitor’ as a result. Asus has equipped its ZenScreen with a USB Type-C port which supports transmission of power and video, and compatibility for existing USB ports.
The ZenScreen is practically an edge-to-edge display thanks to its 6.5mm bezels, so it will look good alongside laptops that have really tiny bezels.
Also on offer is a folio case that will hold the ZenScreen up horizontally or vertically, and which the company says that adds just 1 mm to the thickness. If you don’t have it, there’s also a hole in the lower right corner: slot a pen through that, and you can also prop the ZenScreen up without using the case
So far, Asus has only revealed the ZenScreen will be sold for €269 in Europe, but the manufacturer did not announce a release date as well as details about potential availability in the other markets.
