Apple quietly updated its online store for refurbished products, unveiling refurbished Apple Watch models for the first time since the Apple Watch was released in the spring of 2015. The Apple Watch models refurbished section includes both Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 models at 14 to 16 percent off depending on configuration. No original Apple Watch are included.
How much cheaper are we talking? The discounts will vary depending on the model you want, and its range from around $40 to $90 worth of the savings. For example, a regular Series 1, 42mm silver cased Apple Watch model Sport with a white band will cost you $299.99 brand new. In Apple’s refurbished store, a 42mm gold Apple Watch Sport along with a cocoa band is $249.99. A 38mm silver and white Series 1 can be purchased for $229.99. Both represent solid savings over the full price versions.
Series 2 Apple Watch models are more expensive, and at the time of writing, there are just three versions from which to choose — a 38mm space black with black band, and also two 42mm models in space black or stainless steel. The 38mm model is $469.99 down from $549.99, and the 42mm versions are $509.99 rather than $599.99.
As a refresher, both the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 feature a faster dual-core processor. The Series 2, however, offers a display that Apple claims is 2x brighter, built-in GPS, and increased water resistance. Apple is not offering the ‘Series 0’ first-gen Apple Watch in any sort of condition at this point, likely due to the lagging processor in the device.
All of Apple’s refurbished Apple Watch models include magnetic charging cables and a full 1 year warranty, just like non-refurbished products. Series 2 models ship along with a power adapter, while Series 1 models don’t.
