Motorola Is Now Rolling Out The Android 7.0 Nougat Update For Moto Z Play Users

Motorola is trying to make the U.S. customers happy after a period of initial disappointment. The latest word from the Motorola had the unlocked Moto Z Play receiving the update to Android 7.0 in March. But it appears the device has started receiving the update OTA right now according to some screenshots that we’ve seen. The size of the update is 1121.1MB, and includes multi-window feature for multi-tasking, Unicode 9.0 emoji, and the enhanced version of Doze that saves battery life, and many more.

Moto Z Play users should start seeing a notification for the update, which says that ‘new system software is available!’ Users who see this message should select Yes, I am in, and once the update is downloaded, click on Install Now. Those who have not received a message should go to Settings > About Phone > System updates to check for availability, and if an update is available, then follow the above process.

Moto Z Play

From what we can tell, the Verizon version of the phone (known as the Moto Z Play Droid) underwent some testing last month with Android 7.0, and could receive update shortly.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update, as per the change log, brings so many enhancements including new multitasking (split-screen) features, and more efficient notification controls as well as improved data saver and battery features. Since the Moto Z Play is not a Daydream-ready phone, the update won’t bring stand-alone VR capabilities to the phone.
