Samsung Notebook 9 laptops getting an update of the latest generation Intel’s Kaby Lake chips. Samsung announced that its refreshing its 13-inch and 15-inch Notebook 9 with the latest processor and upgrading the specs under the hood and making the models lighter than its predecessor.
This announcement comes ahead of Consumer Electronic Show CES 2017, an event where manufacturers typically take the stage to showcase new devices. In this event Samsung will share the specifies of chips in the laptops and other information about laptops.
The processor options in the Notebook 9 are now listed as seventh generation Core i5 and i7 in the 13-inch model, or just the Core i7 in the 15-inch model. The new laptops will be faster than older models and also have a better graphics chip. The Kaby Lake processor will improve the performance of laptops compared to the predecessor Skylake. Integrated graphics will be able to handle video beyond 1080p resolution.
Another notable addition is a fingerprint sensor. Windows 10 has native support for a variety of biometric authentication tools through Windows Hello. So this provides the security and speed up the login process.
The laptops feature a 720p webcam, 802.11ac wireless and storage space up to 256GB. The 13-inch model has 16GB of memory while the 15-inch model has 8GB of memory. The 13-inch model weighs 816 grams, while the 15-inch model weighs 984 grams. That’s even the lighter than the Dell XPS 13, which weighs about 1.2 Kilograms.
Regarding ports, they are both equipped with two USB 3.0, a USB-C, an HDMI, and a microSD card slot. The 15-inch model has an additional USB 2.0 ports. The battery life is about 7-hours, which is not high as other in its class. Samsung has also added the backlit keyboard this time around.
The company has not announced the price at this time. So we have to wait for the CES event.
