Know how dearness allowance is calculated, this is how you get benefit
- The eyes of lakhs of employees are on the government regarding dearness allowance
- DA was stopped till June 30, 2021 last year citing the Corona crisis
- Congress surrounded the government on this issue, said dearness allowance should be restored
New Delhi: Central government employees are expected to get a special gift soon. In fact, in the wake of the Kovid-19 epidemic, the Finance Ministry in April last year had banned the increase in DA of 50 lakh employees and 61 lakh central pensioners till June 30, 2021. Since one year has been completed, it is expected that there will be an increase in dearness allowance soon. If arrears are also found in DA, then lakhs of central employees and pensioners can be benefited a lot.
The Congress on Saturday said that the central government should make full payment of dearness allowance dues to government employees and soldiers from July 1. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted that instead of increasing the courage of the employees engaged in the service of the country even in the Kovid epidemic, the central government is trying to snatch their hard earned money. “It is a crime to loot Rs 37,500 crore from soldiers, government employees and pensioners,” he said.
what is dearness allowance
It is an amount which is provided to government employees to improve their standard of living. This amount is given so that with the rise in inflation, there is no problem in the standard of living of the employees. This money is given to central government employees and pensioners working in public sector undertakings. This allowance is calculated every 6 months based on the prevailing inflation. This allowance may vary for employees of urban, rural or semi-urban areas.
Income comes under the purview of income tax
On the other hand, if we talk about DA, to know this, you have to check the basic salary because on its basis the dearness allowance is calculated. This allowance comes under the purview of tax and it has to be reported at the time of paying income tax. That is, whatever amount you get in the form of dearness allowance comes under the purview of income tax.
