New Delhi : Social media giant Facebook on Tuesday said it would submit an interim report by July 2 as per the new rules of the Ministry of Information Technology. Apart from this, between May 15 and June 15, it will give information about how much content it has removed from its platform. The company will submit its final report on July 15. In this final report, it will give information about the complaints received from the users and its action on them. The new rules of the IT department have come into effect from May 25.

Social media companies have to submit supplementary reports every month
According to the new IT rules, social media companies with more than 5 million users have to submit their supplementary reports every month. In this report, the companies have to submit to the government the details of the number of complaints received from users and the action taken on them. In addition, in this report, companies will also state whether they have removed any content or part of them from access in compliance with their automated tools and monitoring practices.

Facebook to submit final compliance report by July 15
A Facebook spokesperson said that in line with IT regulations, we will publish our interim report from May 15 to June 15 on July 2. It will contain information about content removed using automated tools from our side. The spokesperson said the final compliance report would be submitted by the company by July 15. This report will contain the details of complaints received from users and action taken on them. The spokesperson further said that this report will also contain data related to WhatsApp. This data is currently being investigated.

Companies have to appoint officers
The IT Ministry has framed new rules to prevent misuse of digital media platforms. Under the new rules, social media companies have to appoint grievance redressal officers, nodal officers and supplementary officers. Companies must remove content related to nudity and obscenity from their platform within 24 hours.
