New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended its order to link Aadhar card with PF account till September 1, 2021. Earlier, the EPFO ​​had set a deadline of June 1, 2021. The retirement fund body had made it mandatory to file PF returns with an Aadhaar-verified Universal Account Number (UAN). With the latest order, employers will now have more time to link the Aadhaar number of their employees with the PF account or UAN.

EPFO in an order said that the date of implementation of ECR ​​(Electronic Challan cum Receipt or PF Return) with Aadhaar Verified UAN has been extended till September 1, 2021. This may give employers more time to link their employees’ Aadhaar with PF accounts or UAN.

The EPFO ​​had decided to make Aadhaar mandatory after the notification of the Ministry of Labor in this matter. A notification was issued by the Labor Ministry on May 3. The order made it mandatory for the Ministry of Labor and its subordinate bodies to obtain Aadhaar numbers from beneficiaries under the Social Security Code.

The code was passed by Parliament last year. The notification said that the Central Government hereby appoints May 3, 2021 as the date on which the provisions of section 142 of the said Social Security Code shall come into force.
