New Delhi : Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has made serious allegations against America. Khan has said that the US only sees Pakistan’s role in fixing the “bad situation” that has arisen in this country after 20 years of fighting in Afghanistan. According to the Aljazeera report, the Prime Minister of Pakistan says that the US wants his country to use its influence over the Taliban for a peace settlement in Afghanistan. For this Washington has been putting pressure on Pakistan. This is happening because the ongoing talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government have stalled and violence has increased significantly.
America wanted to find a solution militarily
According to the report, in a conversation with reporters at his residence in Islamabad, Khan said, “The bad situation that America has created in Afghanistan, now it wants us to fix it somehow.” He tried to solve the Afghanistan problem through military means for 20 years but he was unsuccessful.
We are not taking sides: Imran
Western countries, including Kabul, say that Pakistan is providing aid to the Taliban and because of this help, the Taliban is occupying the areas of Afghanistan. However, Pakistan has been denying this. Khan said he was not taking sides in Afghanistan. The Pakistan PM further said, ‘I believe that America has decided that now India is their strategic partner and this is the reason why the US administration is treating Pakistan in revenge.’ He said that seeing the situation prevailing in Afghanistan, it does not seem that there will be a political solution to the problem.
“The situation is such that as long as Ashraf Ghani is in Afghanistan, the Taliban will not negotiate with the Afghan government,” he quoted Taliban leaders as saying.
News of Taliban control over Ghazni
Meanwhile, there are reports that the Taliban have also taken control of the capital Ghazni. Ghazni is located 130 km southwest of the capital, Kabul. With this, Ghazni has become the 10th provincial capital of the country to come under Taliban control. Al Jazeera quoted a government source as saying that the Afghan government has proposed a power-sharing offer to the Taliban to stop the ongoing violence in the country.
