The funds disbursed by the central government on Saturday are the first installment of untied grants for the financial year 2021-22. It can be used by all these local bodies, among other measures, for preventive measures to combat the Kovid-19 epidemic. As per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, the first installment of untied grants was to be received by the states in June 2021, but as per the recommendation of the Ministry of Panchayat Raj, the funds are being distributed ahead of schedule due to the ongoing Kovid-19 epidemic.
