LPG cylinder price hike : The price of domestic cooking gas LPG was increased by Rs 25 per cylinder on Wednesday, which is a straight increase for the second straight month. As per the price notification of oil companies, the price of subsidized LPG cylinder is now Rs 859 per 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi.
LPG cylinder prices increased for the second consecutive month
This is the second consecutive month of hike in prices. Earlier on July 1, the price was increased by Rs 25.50 per cylinder. The rates of non-subsidised LPG were increased in the same proportion on August 1, and now the prices of subsidized LPG have been increased. Also, there is hardly any difference in the rates of subsidized and non-subsidised LPG.
LPG price hiked by Rs 165 per cylinder from January 1
Industry sources said the price of subsidized LPG was not hiked on August 1 as Parliament was in session then and the opposition could attack the government. The price of subsidized LPG has been increased by a total of Rs 165 per cylinder from January 1. The government has abolished the subsidy on LPG by increasing the rates every month.
Cylinder prices more than doubled in 7 years
The price of domestic LPG has more than doubled in the last seven years. The retail selling price of domestic gas as on March 1, 2014 was Rs 410.5 per cylinder (14.2 kg). Meanwhile, according to the price notification, diesel prices across the country were cut by 19-21 paise per liter, while there was no change in petrol prices.
