Mumbai: One of the hallmarks of a good mystery thriller is that it keeps the audience hooked till the very end. A movie that doesn’t get your attention anywhere else while watching it. Want to take a break from the film, but the story is so complicated that you can’t even move. Parineeti Chopra-starrer ‘The Girl on the Train’ has managed to do so to some extent.

Those who have read the book based on it will be somewhat familiar with the story. If you are someone who hasn’t watched the 2016 release Hollywood movie or read the book, then Parineeti’s film can give an interesting entertainment. Even those who have watched the Hollywood film will love Ribhu Dasgupta’s directorial as some interesting twists have been added to it.

When the trailer of the film surfaced online, it certainly created curiosity among the audience. A troubled character, an intriguing storyline and many unresolved questions about a murder, have managed to grab attention. The film is able to take the curiosity of the audience to the next level.

Parineeti plays Mira Kapoor in the film, an alcoholic divorcee who works as a lawyer. Her ideal life is turned upside down when she takes a case in her own hands, leaving her and her husband (Avinash Tiwari) in an accident. After the accident, Meera develops amnesia and also starts drinking heavily. Her husband, on the other hand, moves on in his life.

Meera searches for a girl named Nusrat, a girl whom she sees living her ideal life by train. Things change drastically when Nusrat (Aditi Rao Hydari) goes missing and after investigation her body is found dead in the forest. Kirti Kulhari, who plays a police officer, comes to investigate the case and Meera (Parineeti) is named among the suspects.

All the three leading ladies have delivered a stellar performance and brought life to their characters. Aditi’s role is small but impressive. Parineeti has given a stellar performance in the film and Keerti’s character also fits her perfectly.

The screenplay and the story of the book seem similar for a very long time, but things get very interesting in the last 30 minutes. There comes an unexpected twist that adds newness to it. Some songs have been inserted in the film but without them the story could have been interesting.

Overall, The Girl On The Train is a good and well worth watching movie that has been released on Netflix. All the actors have made sure that their characters are strong and well portrayed. This film stands out among all the films that have released recently on OTT platforms.
