PM Modi will launch e-RUPI for digital payment today, know what is its specialty

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch cashless and contactless e-rupee for digital payments today. The purpose of issuance of e-Rupee is to make online payment easy and secure. The platform has been developed by National Payments Corporation of India in association with Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and National Health Authority.

This is how e ruppy works

e-RUPI is a cash and contactless payment method which works in the form of QR code and SMS string based e-voucher. You will be able to make a card, digital payment app or payment under this service without having to access internet banking. E-RUPI runs on a one-time payment mechanism so that users without card, digital payments app and internet banking access can redeem vouchers at service providers. NPCI has also developed it on its UPI platform.

Issuing a statement on behalf of the PMO, it has been said that during the last years several programs have been initiated to ensure that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries so that there is a limited contact point between the government and the beneficiary. It said that the concept of ‘electronic voucher’ would take this vision of good governance forward. ‘e-Rupee’ is a cashless and contactless medium of digital payment. Through this, the major public welfare schemes of the government will be delivered to the consumers without any hindrance.
