Mumbai. Bollywood movies and controversies have an old relationship. Sometimes the sword of protest hangs about the story of the film and sometimes about the name of the film. The latest example is the story of Kartik Aaryan’s film Satyanaran.
After the announcement of the story of the film Satyanarayana, there was an objection to the name of the film by Hindu religious organizations. After which recently the name change of the film has been announced by Sameer Vidwasan. However, the new title of the film has been kept secret for now. Today we will introduce you to some such Bollywood films, whose name was forced to change due to controversy.
In the year 2013, John Abraham’s film Madras Cafe, directed by Shoojit Sircar, was heavily criticized by the Tamils organization. The makers of the film had named it Jaffna before its release, which used to be an LTTE stronghold located in Sri Lanka. The Tamil outfit believed that the title of the film defames their movement. For this reason the director of the film Shoojit Sircar named the film ‘Madras Cafe’.
The controversy surrounding the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmavat, directed by Sajay Leela Bhansali, is still fresh. The film was earlier named Padmavati, but due to controversy, the name of the film was changed to Padmavat. There was a lot of ruckus by the Rajput organization Karni Sena regarding the story of the film. He said that there are objectionable scenes of Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji in the film. The set of the film was also vandalised.
Let us tell you that Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s film R Rajkumar, directed by Prabhudheva, was earlier titled Rambo Rajkumar. To which the makers of the Hollywood film had raised a lot of objections, because they had the copyright of the title of this film. After which the name of the film was changed from Rambo Rajkumar to R Rajkumar by Prabhudheva.
Singh Saab the Great
Anil Sharma decided to make Singh Saab the Great with Sunny Deol after the success of Gadar Ek Prem Katha. Let us tell you that earlier the title of the film was Singh Sahib the Great, but the Akal Takht had raised a lot of objections to it. Because the word Sahib refers to the group of five Takhts. In such a situation, the makers had to change the title of the film and later gave the correct information to Akal Takht.
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ramleela
Before Padmavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been caught in a controversy regarding ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ramleela’. The controversy about this film had increased so much that people even threatened not to release it. A petition was filed against the film in the court, alleging that the film had hurt religious sentiments. As a result, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had to change the name of the film.
Loveratri to Loveyatri
There was also a lot of uproar about this film made in Salman Khan’s production house. After this film, an FIR was lodged against Salman Khan by the people.
It was said in the FIR that Hindu religion is being hurt by defaming the Navratri festival in this film. After which the name of the film was changed from ‘Loveratri’ to ‘Loveyatri’.
