Mumbai: Sonu Sood has worked in different films with different members of the Bachchan family, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. In an interview in 2013, he spoke about the experience of shooting with each of the cast members and also revealed who his favorite co-star has been. According to Sonu, Amitabh is extremely dedicated and keeps practicing to speak his line, Aishwarya used to ‘reserve’ most of the sets. He also said that with Abhishek ‘you get the experience you pay attention to’.
When asked about his favorite co-star, Sonu told a leading daily, “I really enjoyed working with Amitabh Bachchan. He played my father in Budha… Hoga Tera Baap, while Abhishek played my brother in Yuva and Aishwarya played my sister in Jodhaa Akbar. In my first scene with Mr Bachchan, I had to push. I asked my director how can I do this to a person I have grown up respecting?’
Sonu said that Amitabh is ‘made for cinema’. He keeps sitting on the sets and does not go to the van. Rehearse your lines. I do too and he was happy that I wanted to rehearse too. Like him on every film, I feel this is my first film. Sometimes I wake up in the night and start practicing my lines or rewrite my dialogues and message my director. With Abhishek you get what you see. Aishwarya was initially reserved, but she opened up with me while doing a scene in Jodhaa Akbar, when she told me – you remind me of my pa! She still calls me Bhai Saheb.
Recently, Sonu has been in the news for his philanthropic efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Since last year, he has been answering distress calls and messages, arranging transportation for stranded migrant workers, ensuring medical care for the needy and even helping the unemployed find jobs. are. He talked about his experience of helping people in a memoir titled I Am No Messiah, which also narrates his journey from Moga to Mumbai.
