VVS Laxman said during ‘Star Sports’ program Cricket Live, “I was fortunate that I got a chance to play against all these legendary bowlers. Steyn was such a bowler who knew how to swing the ball, not just the normal swing ball. But also reverse swing, which didn’t give you a place to play and get out. And Shane Warne’s presence on the field was unbelievable.”

Laxman continues, “But for me it is Muttiah Muralitharan (the best bowler of the 21st century), because he was a spinner who troubled batsmen all over the world, not just in Sri Lanka, not just in subcontinental conditions but In every country in the world except Australia. He is the greatest bowler. It’s not just because of the statistics or the number of wickets. He has 800 test wickets to his name which is a big achievement, the way he used to beat the batsmen, I could clearly see the fear in the batsman’s eyes while facing him.”
