New Delhi: All over the world research has been done on Egyptian mummy. New things keep coming out in every research. Recently a mummy (Enkheonsu) of an Egyptian priest is being CT scanned in a hospital in Italy.

It may be noted that the mummy of Ankhekhonsu, an ancient Egyptian priest, was transferred from the Civic Archaeological Museum in Bergamo to the Policlinico Hospital in Milan.

This priest was buried 3000 years ago. Modern technology is being used to study this mummy of the priest. The mummy has been brought to the Italian city of Milan for a CT scan. Sabina Malgora, director of the Mummy Project Research, said the mummies are practically a biological museum, they are like a time capsule.

Malgora said that information about the mummy’s name comes from coffins dated to 900 and 800 BCE, where Ankhekhonsu – meaning ‘Lord Khonsu lives’. Using modern technology like CT scan to know about life and burial customs used after death.

Under the research, there will be an attempt to know what life was like at that time. What was the custom of burial after someone’s death at that time? The complete biological and pathological profile of the priest can be found in the scientific investigation being done through CG scan.

Researchers believe that many secrets hidden inside it may be revealed, including age at the time of death, his stature and all the diseases or wounds caused during his life.
