New Delhi: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organizing Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 across the country as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav- India@75 Celebrations. Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur launched Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 in New Delhi today through virtual medium. Organizations like BSF, CRPF, Railways, NYKS, ITBP, NSG, SSB joined the program through virtual medium from major locations across the country. Today 75 programs are being organized at various historical places of the country on the occasion of its launch.
What is Fit India Run 2.0
Actually Fit India Freedom Run is being organized under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi. Under this, programs will be organized every week in 75 districts and 75 villages of each district till October 2, 2021. The Fit India Freedom Run will be organized in 744 districts, 75 villages in each of the 744 districts and 30,000 educational institutions across the country. Through this initiative, more than 7.50 crore youth and citizens will reach to participate in the race.
what is the purpose
Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 will start from August 13, 2021 till October 2, 2021. It aims to encourage people to participate in health activities like running and sports of daily living and get rid of obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases etc. Through this campaign “Fitness Ki Dose Half Hour Rose” citizens will be called upon to take a pledge to include at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily in their lives. The main activities of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 include Sankalp, National Anthem, Freedom Run, cultural programs at various places, sensitizing youth volunteers for participation and organizing similar Freedom Runs in their respective villages.
The first edition of this campaign was conducted from August 15 to October 2, 2020. It was attended by more than 5 crore people from Central/State Government Departments including Central Armed Forces, NGOs, Private Institutions, Schools, Individuals, Youth Clubs and covered a distance of about 18 crore kilometres.
