New Delhi: Jos Buttler’s team Rajasthan Royals on Saturday announced that the England wicket-keeper batsman will miss the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the birth of his second child. The T20 league was suspended in May due to rising Kovid-19 cases in India and several cases in the ‘bio bubble’ of the IPL, the remaining matches of which will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 19 September.
This is what the franchise said on Butler
The Rajasthan franchise tweeted, ‘Jos Buttler will not be part of the team for the remaining matches of IPL 2021 for the birth of second child. We are eagerly waiting for a new addition to the Royals family. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals will play without star England fast bowler Jofra Archer, who will miss the remainder of the year due to the emergence of a ‘stress fracture’ in the elbow.
The Royals tied up with Phillips
The Royals have signed New Zealand’s top-order wicket-keeper batsman Glenn Phillips, who is currently part of the Barbados Royals franchise in the Caribbean Premier League. Royals were ranked fifth in the points table till this stage of the IPL was suspended, having won three out of seven matches.
