Many flaws in the new portal of Income Tax
- The new income tax e-filing portal was launched on 7 June.
- There are many technical flaws in the new portal.
New Delhi Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said technical glitches in the new income tax e-filing portal will be fixed to a large extent in the next few days and she is drawing Infosys’s attention to the issue. She said that I am constantly bringing this to Infosys (the company that developed the portal), and Nandan Nilekani (head of Infosys) is sending me messages of assurance that they will solve the problems to a large extent in the next few days. .
The Finance Minister said that the system is working much better at this time than in June but still some problems remain. He said that the Revenue Secretary is monitoring it on a weekly basis and in the next few weeks these lapses will be rectified to a great extent. The new income tax e-filing portal has been plagued with technical glitches ever since it was launched on June 7.
Infosys was awarded the contract in 2019 to develop the next generation income tax filing system. A system in which the time limit for return execution can be reduced from 63 days to one day and refunds can be made faster. The government has so far paid Rs 164.5 crore to Infosys between January 2019 and June 2021 for developing the portal.
