Mumbai: It has been more than two decades (22 years) since Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ released in theatres. The film starring Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan in lead roles was a huge hit and became a cult classic in the history of cinema. Recently, senior actor Ghanshyam Nayak while talking about sharing screen space with the former beauty queen praised her. The actor played the role of Vitthal Kaka in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

In his recent interview with ETimes, the senior actor said, “I have many fond memories from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Aishwarya Rai was new to the industry at that time and she was very respectful and friendly with me. I taught him Bhavai in Gujarati. She would sometimes even touch my feet out of respect. As I was very close to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the entire unit respected and loved me. I helped Sanjay Leela Bhansali a lot during the making of the film.

Ghanshyam also praised Salman Khan and recalled how superstars still call him Vitthal Kaka. Talking about this the actor said, ‘Salman Khan still addresses me as Vitthal Kaka. He always greets me warmly whenever he comes on the sets to promote his films on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He hugs me whenever he meets me.

Let us inform that till now, Ghanshyam has been playing the role of Nattu Kaka in one of the popular and longest running sitcoms of TV, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and has been winning hearts with his performance. Recently, the talk of the actor battling cancer also came to the fore.
