New Delhi : India has got the chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) this month. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is leaving for New York in connection with the preparation for the meeting. This important meeting of the UNSC is to be held on 18 and 19 August. In view of the latest situation in Afghanistan, it is considered very important for India to get the Presidency of the Security Council. India is considered to be very important in this international forum for terrorism, maritime security and the Taliban and foreign terrorists in Afghanistan. On the issue, both China and Pakistan can be diplomatically surrounded.

Afghan foreign minister seeks India’s help
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar has called Jaishankar and sought India’s help. Atmar has said that the Taliban, in collaboration with foreign militants, are carrying out attacks and atrocities on people in the country. He has urged India to convene an emergency meeting of the UNSC on Taliban violence. According to reports, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan says that the Taliban, along with other terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba, is carrying out attacks on security forces and civilians. Due to this the situation in the country has become extremely tense. Atmar has informed the ambassadors of countries other than India about the latest situation in Afghanistan.

Atmar calls for emergency session of UNSC
The Afghan foreign ministry said Atmar held talks about the rapidly deteriorating situation in the war-torn country by attacks by the Taliban and foreign terrorist groups and called for a meeting of the UN Security Council. In a tweet on Tuesday, Atmar said, “Discussed with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar about convening an emergency session of the UN Security Council on the situation in Afghanistan. “The United Nations and the international community must play an important role in preventing the tragedy of the Taliban’s violence and atrocities,” he said. I appreciate India’s role as the Chair of the Security Council.

Taliban issue will be important on the agenda
Afghanistan is understood to be the main issue on the agenda of the Security Council to be chaired by India. Member countries can take any important decision to establish peace in Afghanistan. Or a political resolution could be presented to solve the problem in which the Taliban could be talked about. India has raised its voice against the ongoing violence in Afghanistan. India has clearly stated that it will not accept a change of power in Afghanistan by force.
