Mumbai: The trailer of Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom movie released on 3rd August which became a huge buzz for the fans, receiving an overwhelming response from both the audience and industry insiders. The trailer also hints that the story of the film is full of potential spy film and most importantly true patriotic fervor. The film will be released a few days after India’s Independence Day.

It has also been said in the trailer that like another Akshay Kumar film Airlift, the story of Bell Bottom film is also inspired from true events. Let’s take a look at what exactly are these true events that propelled the makers towards Bell Bottom?

Hence, according to the Bell Bottom trailer the events are set in 1984 and the story is believed to revolve around a secret mission to thwart the plans of a terrorist organization, a terrorist organization that hijacked a plane. And Lara Dutta has played the role of former-PM Indira Gandhi in it.

In the trailer, Lara Dutta is seen saying that this is the seventh hijacking in 5 years, and remembering the old times, the 80s was notorious for hijackings due to weak airport security and 9/11. After the attack, major changes were seen in the security of the airports. Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja was also based on the real-life hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986.

Coming back to the story of Bell Bottom – the trailer reveals that there were two hijackings in 1984, the first being Indian Airlines flight IC-405, which was diverted on 6 July to Lahore, Pakistan, and the second Indian Airlines flight There was a Boeing 736, which was hijacked about 40-45 days later in Chandigarh on its way from Delhi to Srinagar.
