Kabul : An important meeting of the United Nations Security Council is going to be held today (August 6, Friday) amid the growing threat of Taliban in Afghanistan. This meeting is also very important from India’s point of view. India has taken over the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for a month only on 1st August and today an important meeting of this global body is going to be held on the security situation in Afghanistan, which will be chaired by India.

India has insisted on an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire amid the growing influence and violence of the Taliban in Afghanistan. India on Thursday said it would share its perspective on Afghanistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting to be held on August 6. India’s Ambassador to the United Nations TS Tirumurti said that the UNSC will meet under the chairmanship of India on Friday to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

These three important issues are included in the top agenda

TS Tirumurti said, ‘India has been warning about the access of terrorist organizations and terrorists to chemical weapons.’ At the same time, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a media briefing, ‘During the debate, India will share its perspective on Afghanistan. India has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of August, in which issues like maritime security, peacekeeping and counter-terrorism are among the top agenda of India.
