Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government on Friday paid Rs 1522 crore to paddy and sugarcane farmers on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Officials of the State Public Relations Department said here on Friday that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had given Rajiv Gandhi to about 21 lakh farmers of the state’s paddy and sugarcane growers in a program organized at his office here today on the occasion of ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Under the Kisan Nyay Yojana, the second installment of input assistance of Rs 1522 crore was paid directly in their bank accounts. Officials said that out of this amount, an amount of Rs 1500 crore was transferred to the account of paddy growing farmers and Rs 22 crore three lakh to the account of sugarcane growing farmers.
Chief Minister Baghel said on the occasion that the birthday of Rajiv Gandhi, the father of modern India, is a day of hope for the underprivileged, exploited and backward people. In the first installment of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, an amount of Rs 1525 crore was transferred to the accounts of farmers on the martyrdom day of Rajiv ji on 21st May this year. Today the amount of the second installment of this scheme has been transferred.
The Chief Minister said that a record 92 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured from farmers in the year 2020-21 and preparations have been made to procure more than 10 million tonnes this year. He said that in the Kharif year 2021-22, along with paddy, all the major Kharif crops of maize, soybean, sugarcane, Kodo, Kutki and Arhar would also be given input assistance of Rs. 9,000 per acre per year.
The Chief Minister said that the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana would be implemented in the state by the end of this financial year. This scheme has been included in the budget for the year 2021-22. Under the scheme, it has been decided to give six thousand rupees per year to the rural landless laborers. This will benefit about 10 lakh rural landless laborers.
Baghel also transferred a total amount of nine crore three lakh rupees to the cow dung purchased from cattle farmers and collectors and to the Gauthan committees and women self-help groups under the Godhan Nyay scheme in the program.
In the program, the Chief Minister distributed pattas to the beneficiaries of Rajiv Aashray Yojana under Bhilai Corporation area and e-dedicated the newly constructed District Congress buildings at six district Congress headquarters, Sukma, Jagdalpur, Dhamtari, Durg, Baikunthpur and Ambikapur.
On this occasion, senior Congress leader and Chhattisgarh in-charge PL Punia, who joined through video conference, said that the Chhattisgarh government is working according to the aspirations of the people. People’s faith and trust in the government has increased.
State Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey informed that in order to increase agricultural productivity, input assistance of Rs 5702 crore was given to farmers in four installments last year under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
This year, Rs 3047 crore has been paid to the farmers in two installments. The third installment will be paid on the occasion of State Foundation Day on November 1 and the fourth installment will be paid at the end of the financial year. Members of the Bhupesh Baghel cabinet and senior officials were present in the program.
