Bhavnagar : A video of hundreds of blackbucks crossing a road near the Blackbuck National Park in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district is doing the rounds on social media and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also appreciated the sight. The above video was shared by the official Twitter handle of Gujarat Information Department on Wednesday. “Around 3,000 blackbucks were seen crossing a road in Bhavnagar’s Kala Deer National Park,” the department tweeted.
Prime Minister Modi commented on the one-minute video shared by the Department of Information and described it as ‘fantastic’. Blackbucks are protected under the first schedule of the Wildlife Protection Act.
According to Ankur Patel, the area forest officer of the national park, the blackbucks keep moving from place to place and the video was taken by a Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawan who was posted at the police check post on the Dholera-Bhavnagar highway. Patel said the road seen in the video connects Velavadar village and the national park with the highway.

The land visible on both sides of the inner road belongs to the forest department, the official said. While returning from night duty, the GRD jawan saw blackbucks crossing the road in the morning and captured this amazing sight on his mobile phone and shared it on social media.
“In the video, 700 to 800 blackbucks can be seen. Most of these were female or juvenile deer, so they were brown in color. Only adult male deer are black in colour.’
