Mumbai. Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah’s condition is now stable and he may be discharged from the hospital on Friday. He was admitted to a city hospital after he developed pneumonia. Shah (70) was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in suburb Khar on Tuesday. This is not a COVID-19 centre.
Naseeruddin Shah’s secretary told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ on Thursday, ‘He is fine now. He may get leave tomorrow. Shah’s wife and actress Ratna Pathak Shah told that Shah has got pneumonia and now his health is stable. His treatment is showing effect and it is expected that he will be discharged from the hospital soon.
Naseeruddin Shah started his film career in 1975 with Shyam Benegal’s film ‘Nishant’ and went on to become an influential figure in parallel cinema in the 1970s and 80s. Naseeruddin Shah acted in several memorable films including ‘Sparsh’ (1979), the satirical comedy ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ (1983) and the Shekhar Kapur directorial ‘Masoom’ and ‘Mirch Masala’.
Shah has acted in around 100 films and has won three National Awards. He is also known for his theater works and runs a theater group called ‘Motley Fool Productions’. He has also acted in some of the superhit films of the last two decades like Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2009 film Ishqiya, Vidya Balan starrer Dirty Picture and Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Shah was last seen in the drama ‘Mi Raxam’ in 2020. Let us tell you, senior actor Dilip Kumar is also admitted in this hospital. He was admitted to the hospital after having trouble in breathing.
