IslamabadThe Imran government of Pakistan, burdened with foreign debt, has now found a strange way to increase revenue. The government has now decided that any person who talks on mobile for more than five minutes will be charged tax. According to this decision of the government, if a person talks for five minutes, then he will have to pay 75 paise as tax. However, experts have pointed out many shortcomings in this decision.

75 paise tax on more than 5 minutes
Speaking about the new decision of the government, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, session of the Pakistan National Assembly, said that the government has now imposed a tax on talking on a mobile phone for more than five minutes. Shaukat Tareen said that talking on mobile phone for more than 5 minutes will attract 75 paise tax, but the public will not have to pay any tax on SMS and internet.

blow to customers
After this, users will now have to spend around Rs 2.72 instead of Rs 1.97 for a five-minute phone call. Voice calls are taxed at 75 paise in addition to 19.5% federal excise duty. Hence, an additional tax of 40% will now be charged from the user if the voice call exceeds five minutes. It will have the greatest impact on the lower strata. This is also no less than a setback for the Pakistani citizens who are already facing inflation.

What do experts say
Pakistani experts have raised questions on this decision of the government. At the same time, the telecom industry has termed the government’s decision as irrational and said that it will cause problems to 98 percent prepaid customers. Industry experts believe that this will put a stop to the offers to the customers. At the same time, customers will cut the call before five minutes and then talk by joining the phone, which will harm the government itself. In such a situation, the communication provider companies will have problems.
