Filmmaker Kumar Ramsay has passed away. Kumar Ramsay is best known for most of the Ramsay Brothers’ horror films, including the Rishi Kapoor-starrer Khoj. Kumar Ramsay passed away on Thursday due to cardiac arrest. 85-year-old Kumar Ramsay breathed his last at his residence in Hiranandani here.

Kumar Ramsay’s elder son Gopal told PTI that he died of cardiac arrest at around 5.30 am today. His death was very sudden and peaceful. The funeral will take place after 12 noon. We have called the priest. Let us tell you, Kumar Ramsay was the son of producer FU Ramsay and the eldest of seven brothers.

The Ramsay Brothers included Keshu, Tulsi, Karan, Shyam, Gangu and Arjun. He made low-budget classic films in the 70s and 80s and ruled the horror genre. Kumar played a key role in the scripts of most of his films. These included Purana Mandir (1984), Saya (1989), which starred Shatrughan Sinha, and the 1989 hit Khoj, which also starred Naseeruddin Shah.
