New Delhi : Indonesia and Thailand have pulled back from giving their citizens the second dose of China’s corona vaccines Sinovac and Sinofoam in view of the increasing cases of corona infection. Both these countries say that they will give a second dose booster dose to their citizens. This booster dose will be of other corona vaccines. It is not the first country in the world to express disbelief in China’s vaccine. Turkey and the United Arab Emirates are already giving booster doses to their citizens instead of the Chinese vaccine. It is also being seen as a setback to China’s ‘vaccine diplomacy’. China has exported its vaccine to more than 30 countries. In some countries like Pakistan, he has also given his vaccine as a gift.
Rapidly increasing infection cases in Indonesia
For the past few days, cases of corona infection have started coming to the fore in Indonesia. This country with a population of 270 million is emerging as a new center of corona infection in Asia. On Thursday, there were about 50 thousand cases of corona infection in this country. After this rapid increase in infection, there is a shortage of medical oxygen and medicines in hospitals. People are dying. In Indonesia, more than 1000 people are dying every day due to infection. Health experts say that if the infection continues to increase in this way, then the health system of the country will collapse.
Thailand going through its worst phase of transition
The Delta variant of Corona is showing its outbreak in Thailand. This country is going through its worst phase of corona infection. Since April last, more than 4 lakh 20 thousand cases of infection have been reported here and more than 3,600 people have died. On Thursday, 13,655 new cases of corona infection were found here while 87 people died. So far, about five percent of the total population have been given both doses of corona. The lack of corona vaccine in the country has become a matter of concern for the government. The rapid increase in infection in Thailand has led to a shortage of beds in hospitals. The government has built field hospitals to overcome the shortage of beds, but the demand for beds is increasing rapidly.
Most countries in Southeast Asia depend on Chinese vaccine
Most countries in Southeast Asia are dependent on China’s corona vaccine. A major reason for this is the delay in the supply of vaccines from Western countries and the low cost of Chinese vaccines. In these countries, infection is spreading from the delta variant of Corona. The surprising thing is that the cases of infection have increased rapidly in the medical personnel who have taken both the doses of Sinovac. Some medical workers have also died. According to a Reuters report, Indonesia has administered the Sinovac vaccine to millions of its health workers, and thousands of health workers have tested positive again. Thailand has changed its vaccine policy after health workers were found positive. Now instead of two doses of Sinovac, the people there will be given one dose of Sinovac and the other dose of AstraZeneca.
