Washington DC: Ahmed Masood, son of famous Afghan commander Ahmed Shah Masood, has launched an attack against the Taliban. After the Taliban capture Kabul and other parts of the country, Ahmed Masood is now ready to follow in his father’s footsteps and take up arms against the terrorist group. Ahmed Shah Masood, a former commander of the Northern Alliance, is called the Lion of the Panjshir Valley. This valley, located near the capital Kabul, is so dangerous that it has never been captured by the Taliban since 1980.
Help sought from America
Ahmed Masood has asked America for help while declaring war against the Taliban. “I am writing today from the Panjshir Valley, to follow in my father’s footsteps with Mujahideen fighters ready to take on the Taliban once again,” Masood said in an op-ed for The Washington Post. We have stockpiles of ammunition and weapons which we have patiently collected since the time of our father, because we knew that this day might come.’
Amrulla Saleh also from Panjshir
Afghanistan’s Vice President Amrullah Saleh also hails from this area, who tweeted that I will never bow down to Taliban terrorists under any circumstances. Amrullah Saleh has now declared himself President in the absence of Ashraf Ghani. Saleh is concentrating his forces in Panjshir to oppose the Taliban.
Will protect Panjshir till his last breath
“The US and its democratic allies not only fight terrorism with the Afghans, but we have a long history built on shared ideals and struggles,” Masood said in the article. There’s still a lot you can do to help independence. You are our only remaining hope. Whatever happens, my Mujahideen fighters and I will defend Panjshir as the last bastion of Afghan independence. Our morale remains intact. We know from experience what awaits us. But we need more arms, more ammunition and more supplies.
