Before the series, his name in the top XI was also not confirmed and now he is the highest run-scorer in the series. Indian team’s fielding coach R. Sridhar has told how Rahul was able to make such a successful comeback in Test cricket after a long time.

Fielding coach Sridhar says that the 40-50 days of preparation before the series against England goes to the credit of Lokesh Rahul’s success. Sridhar said on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel, “Rahul was the fourth opener to score Was involved in this series. But his preparation was different. I fed him a lot of throw downs. How to play and how to keep the angle of the bat, he analyzed everything and prepared well for 40-50 days That’s why he is able to bat the way he does.”

He said, “Rahul found a way to score runs in England as an opener. In 2018 also he scored 100 runs at The Oval. Not all openers in England are successful.” In the two Tests against England so far, Rahul has scored 244 runs at an average of 61, including a century and a half-century.

KL Rahul last played a Test match before this Test series in August 2019. His bat did not play much in that series against West Indies, after which he was dropped from the team.
