New Delhi: Aviation regulatory agency DGCA on Tuesday advised passengers planning international travel to check the ticket price on the airline’s website as ‘metasearch engines’ sometimes do not give the exact fare. There are many metasearch engine websites working in India like Google and ‘Skyscanner’. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said on Twitter that when passengers are trying to find the ticket price for a journey from departure to destination, metasearch engines sometimes combine the services of several airlines and give the fare, which makes the airfare appear higher. .

Last Saturday, Sanjeev Gupta, secretary at the Union Home Ministry’s Inter-State Council Secretariat, complained on Twitter that the economy class fare on British Airways for a Delhi-London flight for August 26 was Rs 3.95 lakh.

The Civil Aviation Ministry on Sunday clarified that the economy class fares for Delhi-London flights during August ranged between Rs 1.03 lakh and Rs 1.47 lakh.

From May 25 last year, the fare limit for all domestic flights has been fixed, but there is no such limit for international flights. Nishant Pitti, co-founder and CEO of ‘EaseMyTrip.com’, said in a statement on Tuesday that there are a number of third party platforms and travel websites that can take advantage of the high demand and the university admission season to take advantage of international airfares. are increasing.

“Customers should look for ticket prices on a reliable travel website like ours as we provide the best price to passengers in direct association with the airline,” he added. He said that passengers should beware of third party forums which the airline does not have contact with. “These platforms keep slashing prices based on demand and do not take into account the interest of the customers,” he said.
