Several major digital platforms such as Amazon, Zomato, and Myntra, including several sites, faced temporary disruptions on July 22 due to the internet shutdown. This is the second major internet outage in the world since June. The last time this happened was on June 8, in which many sites were down for several hours.

Outage-affected airlines including Delta, and online stores like Amazon and Mantra, food delivery apps like Zomato, payment apps like Paytm, and OTT platforms like Disney+ Hotstar, games like Call of Duty, as well as many banks whose pages are not loading were, tracking website Down Detector reported.

According to Apple’s system status page, iCloud backup, iCloud Mail, iCloud storage upgrade, and Photos were experiencing those issues. which may be related to the outage. However, there is no confirmation whether these services were affected due to Akamai’s service disruption.

Zomato took to Twitter to report their app being down and wrote: “Our app is down. Due to a massive Akamai outage. Our teams are working to ensure that all given Orders should be delivered as soon as possible.

Akamai wrote on Twitter at around 10 p.m. IST that her service had been interrupted and she was investigating the matter. The company also said that there is no cyber attack behind it. Later at 10:42 am Akamai said it had fixed the glitch and service was back to normal.
