A US defense official told Reuters news agency that intelligence agencies believe the Taliban could isolate the capital Kabul in the next 30 days and take control of it in 90 days. Earlier, US intelligence agencies had said in their assessment that it could take the Taliban six months to take Kabul under their control.

So far the Taliban have captured nine provincial capitals.
As of Friday, the Taliban have captured nine provincial capitals of the country – Faizabad, Farah, Pul-e-Khumri, Sar-e-Pur, Sheberghan, Aybak, Kunduz, Talukan and Zaranj, Al Jazeera reported. Fighting intensifies in Kandahar, the second largest city
The conflict between Taliban fighters and security forces has escalated in Kandahar. At least 47 people including a woman, children, police were brought here to Mirwaiz Hospital in Kandahar. Whether these people are injured or have lost their lives, the hospital has not given details about this. People say that the fight with the Taliban has reached the hospital in the country’s second largest city. Taliban fighters want to take control of the city. The population of Afghanistan is about 38 million. There are 34 states and 421 districts in the country.
