Mumbai: Actress Anushka Sharma has become a fan of Olympian Mirabai Chanu’s Olympic special earrings and the beautiful meaning behind them. Mirabai opened India’s medal tally at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday by winning a silver medal in the 49kg weightlifting category.
As soon as Mira Bai won the silver medal, the discussion of female athlete started across the country. Anushka Sharma also praised Mirabai on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, mentioning her special earrings.

These earrings by Mirabai were a gift from her mother, who had sold her own jewelery five years ago for her daughter’s career and bright future. She was hoping that these earrings would be a blessing for her daughter but it didn’t happen at the Rio 2016 Games but Mirabai made a little sacrifice in Tokyo.
After winning the medal, when the mother’s eyes fell on the earrings:
Meera’s mother Lima, a resident of Manipur, told PTI, “I saw her earrings (earrings) on TV, I gave them to her in 2016 before the (Rio) Olympics. I had made these for him with pieces of gold and savings so that it would bring luck and success. I was in tears when she won a medal in that moment.
