TRAIN YATRA

Remembering former Presidents who have boarded the special train on several occasions in the past&nbsp

New Delhi: President of India Ram Nath Kovind will reach his birthplace in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Friday, let us tell you that this will be the first time in 15 years that a President of the country will travel by rail. He will meet old friends, school classmates and relatives in UP. At the same time, some Presidents have been traveling by train in the country since independence.

President Kovind’s special train will run from Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station on June 25 and will reach Kanpur in the evening. Earlier in 2006, the then President APJ Abdul Kalam had traveled from Delhi to Dehradun by a special train. There he participated in the passing out parade of the Indian Military Academy.

However, this is not the first time that an Indian President will board the President’s saloon. There is an old tradition of the President traveling by rail to connect with people in different parts of the country. Here those former Presidents are being remembered, who have boarded the special train on several occasions in the past.
