Australia’s Test captain Tim Paine has revealed that it was difficult to bear the loss of a place in the final of the World Test Championship due to slow over-rate. He admitted that last year’s Boxing Day Test against India in Melbourne had made it difficult for him to watch the final of the championship in Southampton due to Australia’s four-point cut from the World Test Championship.
“I didn’t see much of the final match. I only watched the final day. I was excited to see it on the first day but then I didn’t watch it,” Penn said. “I was disappointed that we could not reach the final due to slow over-rate. We always tried to improve things but unfortunately it doesn’t always work out,” he said.
Wrong information..D.Africa also got deducted marks
Paine erroneously mentioned that Australia was the only team to have had points deducted while South Africa had six points deducted for being three overs behind in the fourth Test against England in Johannesburg in 2020. Paine said, “We are left behind because of our overs. I am just talking about consistency. To my knowledge there is no other team whose points have been deducted.”
it’s so hard to bear
“It’s hard to bear this when you find out you’re the only team that has had points deducted,” he said. The match against England in Brisbane will be Australia’s first match in the second edition of the World Test Championship.
