The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to send Prithvi Sauv and Devdutt Padikkal to England to replace injured Shubman Gill. On June 28, the Indian team management, through its administrative manager Girish Dongre, had asked to send these two openers.

However, the chairman of the selection committee, Chetan Sharma, did not send an official reply to this mail till two days ago. The selection committee is in no mood to send any other batsman to England as four openers are already in the squad.

BCCI sources told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Prithvi will remain in Sri Lanka and will play in limited overs matches till July 26. He has been elected and he should fulfill that responsibility.

He said, “Prospects will be explored after the Sri Lanka series is over but there is no such thing as of now.” The team management wants two openers as they are not impressed with Abhimanyu Easwaran’s technique. According to reports, he does not even find himself comfortable facing the team’s throwdown specialist Raghavendra.
