According to reports, Jethalal’s character was first offered to Jatin Kanakia, who played Keshav Kulkarni in Mr-Mrs. It was Jatin who gave the idea of ​​Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to the producer of the show Asit Modi.

Jatin Kanakia died of cancer in the year 1999. After this the idea of ​​the show was dropped. Later this role was also offered to Ali Asgar, Kiku Sharda and Yogesh Tripathi. In the end, this role went to Dilip Joshi.
