Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar made a special request to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, expressing his love for Kolkata sweets. During that time, former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag was also present along with Gavaskar. Gavaskar revealed that whenever he visits Kolkata he eats the popular Mishti Doi. Gavaskar also revealed that Chandidas, the father of former Indian captain and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, used to bring a big pot of Mishti Doi for him when he came to Kolkata during his game days.

Let us tell you that Gavaskar was the captain of the Indian team at that time, when Ganguly’s father was the secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Gavaskar said that during his stay in Kolkata, Ganguly’s father used to feed him a variety of sweets. Gavaskar jokingly complained that but the BCCI President is not treating him like that.

Gavaskar opened up about his love for Kolkata sweets during the India-England first Test on Sony Sports’ show. Gavaskar and Sehwag were also seen eating Mishti Doi. Gavaskar said, ‘Whenever I go to Kolkata, I don’t forget to enjoy my mishti doi. Sourav Ganguly’s father was the CAB secretary when I was the captain of India. He used to come to pick me up at the airport.

Gavaskar further said, ‘He (Ganguly’s father) used to arrange mishti doi for me in a big pot in the refrigerator of the hotel room. We used to stay for eight days for a Test match at that time. He used to bring rasgulla along with Mishti doi. He said, ‘I have only one complaint. In those days, the secretary of ACB used to bring such a huge package of Mishti Doi for me, but the current president of BCCI has not given me anything till now.

After this Sehwag said that Dada (Sourav Ganguly) must be listening to you. Next time you meet Sunny Bhai (Gavaskar) or Sehwag, make sure to bring a big pot of Mishti Doi. Gavaskar also requests rasgullas as soon as Sehwag says this.
