New Delhi : The Olympics began on Friday at the National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. For the first time, the Olympics are being held without spectators. Spectators will not be allowed to enter Tokyo’s National Stadium due to COVID-19. Meanwhile, Amul has celebrated the occasion in its own style.

Amul has dedicated its artwork this time to two mascots, ‘Miraitova’ and ‘Somiti’. Miraitowa is the mascot for the Tokyo Olympics this year, while Samiti is for the Tokyo Paralympics. Amul shared its artwork on its Twitter page, with the contemporary caption ‘Refreshments in Japan’. Also the tweet read, ‘Let the 2021 Tokyo Olympics begin.’

In the artwork created by Amul, one is Miritova in a blue outfit and ‘Somiti’ in a pink outfit. These were created by a Japanese artist named Ryo Taniguchi. Miraitova means ‘future’ and ‘eternity’ and somiti is originally named after a type of cherry blossom called ‘somyoshino’.

Amul’s artwork is being well-liked on the internet amid the start of the Olympics. One user wrote, ‘East or West, Amul is the best.’ Another user said, ‘Ever since I started understanding things, I have become a fan of Amul’s commercials.’
