London: 75th Independence Day was celebrated in India on Sunday. There was an atmosphere of celebration across the country. People were seen drenched in the colors of Jashn-e-Azadi. At the same time, the Indian cricket team present in England also hoisted the tricolor on the occasion of independence. Captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri hoist the flag before the start of play on the fourth day of the Lord’s Test. After this all the players and support staff of the Indian team sang the national anthem. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared its video on its official Twitter account.

Sharing the video, BCCI wrote, ‘Today on the occasion of India’s Independence Day, Team India members came together to hoist the tricolor.’ It can be seen in the video that Kohli and Shastri are hoisting the flag in the team hotel and Indian players and support staff members are also present. As soon as Kohli and Shastri return after unfurling the tricolor, the national anthem starts. Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, opener Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are seen standing near the national anthem.

At the same time, when it comes to Lord’s Test, England had the upper hand on the fourth day. England dismissed 6 of India’s batsmen for 181 runs in the second innings by the end of the day’s play. The hosts scored 391 runs on the third day in reply to India’s first innings total of 364. England took a 27-run lead in the first innings. On Friday, the Indian team had lost three wickets on a total score of 55 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara (45) and Ajinkya Rahane (61) batted well on Sunday to save the Indian team from faltering early.
