London: The Indian team, which went on the tour of England, is getting a big setback one after the other. Washington Sundar has become the third player after Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan to be ruled out of the upcoming five-match Test series. The first Test between India and England will start from 4th August. Both Sundar and Khan suffered injuries in the practice match against the Indian team’s County Select XI. Sundar has suffered a finger injury, the details of which are yet to come, while Avesh Khan has a fracture in his right thumb.

Now both Sundar and Avesh Khan will no longer be available for the upcoming tour. Remember that Shubman Gill has also returned home due to injury. It should be noted that the ECB had requested the BCCI that its 11 players could not be completed, the Indian board then sent two of its players to complete the county team. Now it has to be seen what BCCI will do now.

The board had refused to send any option after Shubman Gill was injured. Now that Khan and Sundar are also injured, the selectors will have to sit down and make a plan soon. Remember that the 24-member Indian team went on the tour of England, which has now come down to 21. With COVID-19 cases rising in the UK right now, people don’t know what will happen.

Rishabh Pant joins the team

If a member turns out to be Kovid-19 positive, even if he does not have the infection. Or if someone comes in contact with Kovid-19 positive then he will have to be quarantined. Rishabh Pant recently became Kovid-19 positive. Pant completed his isolation and joined the team in Durham on Wednesday.

The source had said, ‘Rishabh Pant has no infection and he is absolutely fine. But the protocols are very clear. So what if someone in the Indian camp in England turns out to be Kovid-19 positive? From where will the team get the option?’ BCCI will have to take a quick decision whether to send the option or not. Whatever decision is taken, it will have a direct impact on the Indian playing in Sri Lanka.
