The first match of the T20 International series was played between the Pakistan cricket team and the host West Indies at the Bridgetown (Barbados) ground. In this match, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. After the toss, the game could not start due to rain for a long time. When the match started, it was reduced to 9-9 overs. Batting first, West Indies scored 85 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 9 overs. Pakistan had a target of 86 runs in 9 overs but once again it started raining and Pakistan could not come down to answer, as a result the match was called off.

After losing the toss, West Indies team opener Lendl Simmons got injured after scoring 9 runs and he returned to the pavilion. After this, Evin Lewis scored 6 runs and was caught by Shaheen Afridi off Hasan Ali. In the fourth over, Nicholas Pooran was caught by Mohammad Hafeez for 13 runs.

Andre Russell expected big shots to West Indies but Russell was caught by the wicketkeeper on the ball of Usman Qadir after scoring 7 runs. Whereas after two balls, Chris Gayle also scored 7 runs and was caught by Mohammad Wasim to Hasan Ali. Shimron Hetmyer also scored 5 runs and was caught by Mohammad Rizwan off Hasan Ali. Captain Kieron Pollard scored an unbeaten 22 off 9 balls while Jason Holder remained not out on 2 runs. For Pakistan, Hasan Ali took 2 wickets, while Qadir, Hafeez and Wasim took 1-1. After that it started raining and the match could not start again.

Initially five matches were scheduled in this T20 series, but in the middle of the Australia-West Indies ODI series, one match was affected due to Kovid, due to which one match of the Pakistan-West Indies T20 series had to be reduced. Now the West Indies-Pakistan T20 series will now be of four matches instead of five. Out of which the first match could not be completed due to rain.
