However, fast bowler Avesh Khan has injured his left thumb. He was taken to the hospital for a scan. The BCCI medical team is monitoring Avesh Khan’s condition.

The BCCI said in its statement, ‘Pace bowler Avesh Khan has suffered a left thumb injury on the first day of the practice match. He has been taken to the hospital for a scan. The BCCI medical team is keeping a watch on him. Let us inform that India won the toss against County Select XI and decided to bat first. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were not fully fit, after which they decided not to play the practice matches. Rohit Sharma took over the command of the team.

Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have also been rested for the practice match. In their place, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur and Akshar Patel have been given a chance.
