Guyana: Pakistan won the second T20I against West Indies on Saturday. Pakistan defeated West Indies by 7 runs in a close match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Despite a good start, Pakistan did not put up a big score, but still the team managed to achieve. Pakistan scored 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on the basis of the innings of captain Babar Azam (51) and wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan (46). At the same time, West Indies scored 150 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran (62 not out) batted brilliantly for the Windies but could not win the team.

Captain Babar Azam gave this statement

After winning the second T20, Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that we scored 10-15 runs less after the rain. But it was a good win. The bowlers bowled really well. All credit goes to our bowlers. We lost momentum because of the fall of back to back wickets. We were looking to score 170. This is one area we will try to improve on in the next few games. Azam praised veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez for his excellent bowling in the match. Hafeez took one wicket for 6 runs in 4 overs. Azam said that the way he (Hafeez) bowled in the powerplays showed his experience. I am happy with the way he bowled.

Hafeez’s over got heavy for Windies

At the same time, after the defeat, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard said that Hafeez’s overs were heavy for the hosts, in which very few runs were scored. Pollard said that thought 170-180 would be too much but the way our bowlers came back in the last 10 overs, it was good. There was moisture, swing and grip for the bowlers. The Pakistani bowlers used the angle and the wicket more. Hafeez’s 6 runs in 4 overs made a big impact. Looking back, we can say that we could have pulled out a few singles. Our players gave a tough fight throughout the match. Though we were defeated in the end, it was impressive as the fight continued. Pakistan used their leg spinners cleverly.
