New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will organize its domestic tournaments for all age groups in the current season along with the coveted Ranji Trophy, it was announced on Saturday. A total of 2127 matches are proposed to be organized in the 2021-22 domestic season in the BCCI’s schedule, in which the most important Ranji Trophy will be held from November 16.
The BCCI was forced to cancel the Ranji Trophy last season due to the coronavirus pandemic and did not organize any age-group tournaments during this period. This year, however, will be a full domestic season with the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy to be played from 20 October 2021 and the Vijay Hazare Trophy National One Day Championship from 23 February 2022.
“The current season will begin with the Senior Women’s ODI League from 21st September (2021) followed by the Senior Women’s ODI Challenger Trophy from 27th October 2021,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a media release here. The final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be played on 12 November 2021. The prestigious Ranji Trophy will be held from 16 November 2021 to 19 February 2022. The final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played on March 26.
