Big reliefs to taxpayers, Anurag Thakur said- for covid treatment tax exemption

- The government announced several reliefs to the taxpayers.
- The last date for linking Aadhaar with PAN has also been extended.
- Several tax-related deadlines were extended, including payment.
The government has given many big reliefs to the taxpayers on Friday (June 25). Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur said that no tax will have to be paid by an employer if he spends on his employee’s COVID treatment. If after the death of someone, the employer gives the exgratia amount to his employee, then there will be tax exemption for that person. If a person from outside helps another person and helps his family after death, then that family will not have to pay tax but the limit has been fixed up to Rs 10 lakh. Apart from this, the government has extended the last date for linking Aadhaar with PAN by three months to 30 September. The government extended several tax-related deadlines for tax deduction including investment in residential house, payment under dispute resolution scheme.
At the same time, Anurag Thakur said that another relief for income taxpayers is the time to invest in a residential house. Tax deduction for more than 3 months is for extension. Investments made on or after April 1 can now be made till September 30. For PAN/Aadhaar linking, extension has been given till 30th September. He said that an extension of 3 months has been given for PAN-Aadhaar linking. Extended from 30th June to 30th September. Interest extension is given for 2 months from June 30 to August 31, without payment. Closing the scheme with interest in the next 2 months by 31st October.
He said the time limit for compliance was extended to 15 days-2 months or more. Time for filing TDS details extended from July 15. For issuance of tax deduction certificates by July 31, registration of institutions extended till August 31 and the option to withdraw cases from the Settlement Commission till July 31.
