The ICC T20 World Cup, hosted by India, is to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October-November this year. The first World Cup was to be played in India, but it was shifted in view of the situation of Corona epidemic. The discussion about the world is increasing continuously. Former cricketers and experts are sharing their views on the tournament. Many veterans have declared the team as strong contenders. At the same time, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has chosen his favorite Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He has not included opener Shikhar Dhawan in the playing XI. Hogg has also entrusted the responsibility of opening Virat Kohli.
‘Kohli-Rohit to open the innings’
Brad Hogg said in the video shared on his YouTube chapter, ‘Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will open the innings in my Indian team for the T20 World Cup. I am showing a little harshness on Shikhar Dhawan. Actually, India needs some attacking players in the middle order and hence Kohli needs to bat higher. Hogg surprised the recent debutant Suryakumar Yadav by placing him in the team. “I would love to see Suryakumar batting at number three. I think his versatility will add a bit of flair to the batting line-up.
‘Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant at number five’
The former spinner said, ‘KL Rahul is a key contender for No. is coming. At the same time, the wicket-keeper batsman at number 5 is Rishabh Pant. If a wicket falls in the seventh over, I will send Pant up the order to attack the spin. My team will be Hardik Pandya at No.6 and Ravindra Jadeja at No.7. As far as the bowling combination is concerned, Hogg believes that a lot will depend on the performance of the Sri Lanka tour.
Tough competition for place in Kuldeep and Yuzvendra
He further said that if Kuldeep Yadav does well in Sri Lanka, then the left-arm wrist-spinner could be a chance to come into the team. But at the moment Yuzvendra Chahal is the number one spinner and has more chances of being in the playing XI. At the same time, Hogg has also kept fast bowler Shardul Thakur in the team, as he can bat explosively. In addition to bowling, he is also good for powerplay and death bowling. Apart from this, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has given place to Jasprit Bumrah as the hog fast bowler.
