Imad Wasim told Pakistan the title contender for T20 World Cup because of this reason

New Delhi: All the teams have geared up for the T20 World Cup, which is going to start in the UAE from October 17. All the teams are presenting the claim of winning the title from now on. Those claiming victory include both former and current players of the team.

Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim feels that the team captained by Babar Azam will be the biggest contender for the title win this time. The tournament is to be played in the UAE which has been the home ground of the Pakistani team for the past few years. Pakistan has got a place in Group 2 along with arch-rivals India in the tournament. Where the superhit clash of both the teams will take place on October 24. Apart from this, there will be teams from New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in the group.

Apart from Pakistan, India and New Zealand will be the contenders for a place in the semi-finals. In such a situation, Imad believes that the conditions in the UAE will prove to be helpful for Pakistan. Because he has the experience of playing cricket here for most of the last decade.

Currently Pakistan team is playing test series against West Indies. Before the World Cup, he has to play T20 series against many teams. Imad believes that if the Pakistani team is successful in winning those series, then his team will come to participate in the tournament with increased confidence.

UAE is like home ground for Pakistan
Imad said, the conditions in the UAE will be helpful for us. It is like home ground for us. We have played here for a long time. That is why we are also being seen as a contender for the title win. We have talented players with many skills in our team. That’s why we are likely to stay in the tournament for a long time. We will try to give our 100 per cent during the championship.

Imad said, ‘Before the T20 World Cup, we have to participate in two T20 series. Our focus is on getting them to win so that we go into the tournament with winning momentum and confidence.

Have confidence to return to ODI team
Imad Wasim has not played ODI cricket for Pakistan for the last one year. He was last seen in the ODI jersey for the team in November 2020. In such a situation, this all-rounder is sure that he will be able to make a comeback in the team. However, the reason for his exclusion from the team is not clear till date.

In such a situation, he said, I want to play ODI cricket. I have told everyone about this. Since the 2019 World Cup, I have played only two-three ODIs. I still don’t know why I was dropped from the team. However, it was the decision of the selectors, the coach and the captain and I accepted that. However, I will continue to play domestic cricket and try to perform to the best of my ability.
